Background
Cervical Spinal stenosis is a medical condition that occurs when the spinal canal narrows and exerts pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Symptoms include lower back pain and often abnormal sensations and pain in the legs. The onset of age and the natural process of spinal degeneration conspire to cause Spinal stenosis. Other catalysts are disc herniation, tumours and osteoporosis. The condition is a degenerative process that can be managed, but not prevented, by diet, specific exercises, posture adjustment and lifestyle changes. The Device
 The NeuMedix Expanding Cervical Canal Solution consists of a number of titanium inserts which, when surgically installed into the lamina, helps maintain the newly created space around the spinal cord and nerves. The procedure, know as a laminoplasty, relieves the pressure which had been causing the patients pain and discomfort.
Manufactured from titanium, the device is ideally suited for non invasive keyhole surgery. After insertion, it is fixed in place with titanium screws which have the added advantage of bone regeneration. The device is designed to follow the contours of the vertebra and takes into account the natural undulations of vertebra as well as physical variations in human size.
Three configurations are offered with either right or left side compatibility. In addition, there are two variations on gap displacement available to provide flexibility for the surgeon around how much relief is required.
