The size of the collected biopsies is extremely small, approximately 1mm3 and therefore it is difficult to obtain adequate amounts of RNA for gene expression studies. The experimental protocols are currently being optimised to maximize the RNA yield. The preliminary results are very encouraging and the next stage of the project over the ensuing few months will be to extract the RNA from all the collected samples. |
