Wound treatment for Gangrene amputations

September 2008

20,000 amputations are carried out each year in Taiwan due to diabetic gangrene according to Professor Tz-Chong Chou from the National Defense Medical Centre, Department of Physiology.

After learning about studies that show MAC is a healing agent as well as anti-inflammatory, Professor Tz-Chong Chou attended the MegaBac and MAC conference in September 2007 to seek ways of reducing the number of amputations in his country.

“It also stops dead flesh from becoming infected with bacteria which normally causes further loss of limbs” says MAC inventor Professor Max Reynolds.

As a result of the meeting between Professors Tz-Chong Chou and Max Reynolds, NeuMedix and National Cheng Kung University are in discussions to pursue human clinical trials.
