Professor Umar Fahmi Achmadi

NeuMedix Health proudly welcomes Professor Achmadi as a consultant with the MegaBac and B.A.C research and development team. 

Professor Achmadi is currently at the University of Indonesia (Faculty of Health) in Jakarta. He is a Post Doctorate research fellow at Griffith University in Queensland as well as working there as an adjunct Professor on population health. Professor Achmadi is an honorary board member of IVI – International Vaccines Institute and has held this position since 2003. 

Professor Achmadi held a former position as Director General Communicable Disease Control and Environmental Health with the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Prior to that role he was Director General of the National Institute for Health Research and Development, Indonesian Ministry of Health. 

In 1973 Professor Achmadi qualified as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Indonesia and in 1976 received his Masters of Public Health (MPH) at the University of the Philippines. In 1985, whilst working on Australian Environmental studies, he completed his PhD at Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. 

His vast experience includes lecturing at the University of Indonesia, health advisory roles, and committee positions relating to environmental air and water standards, VP Indonesian Public Health Assoc, President Indonesian Medical Assoc. 

 

Professor Achmadi has written the following books: 

  • Spatial Management for the Disease (Indonesian) 
  • Basic Knowledge of Immunisation for Public Workers (Indonesian) 
  • Decentralising management of the new public health in Indonesia (Indonesian) 

 

Awards presented to Professor Achmadi: 

  • Ksatria Bhakti Husada, Distinguished service from Ministry of Health Indonesia, in 2000. 
  • Djuned Pusponegoro; the best scientific author for 1991; received from the Indonesian Medical Association. 
  • Karya Satya 1995; Distinguished Recognition for 20 years service from the Government of Indonesia. 

 

Distinctions received: 

  • National Coordinator for the Control and Prevention of SARS epidemics in 2003 (result: no horizontal transmission) 
  • National Coordinator for Outbreaks Communicable Disease control and prevention post Tsunami in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam 2004-2005 (result : no such outbreaks) 
  • National Chairman of National Immunization Days for Eradicating Polio in, 2002, 2003, 2004 including Sub NID in the dangerous area of Conflict in Molucca in 2003 
  • Chairman of National Coordinator for Avian Influenza Early Epidemic Control and Prevention in 2004 (result : no further human cases) 
  • National Coordinator of Polio outbreaks in Sukabumi, West Java due to foreign virus Director of Roll Back Malaria (2000-2005); Director of National Tuberculosis Program (started 2000- 2005)
